My Self Care Routine + Some Cruelty Free Favourites

Self care is a phrase that's thrown around a lot at the moment, and whilst it means different things to different people, it's something we should all be doing a lot more of. On some days, that's just cooking a nutritional meal for Ada and I instead of throwing vegan nuggets in the oven, but most days, it's me taking some time to just focus on myself.

So it's a face mask before bed, wearing new a underwear set (even just matching underwear is a novelty for me!) or even just a spritz of my favourite perfume before I head out. Today I thought I'd talk through some of my favourite products that are helping me with my self care routine.

As I've mentioned cruelty free, I thought I'd get the one that isn't out of the way first; Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel has been my favourite perfume since I was fourteen. Unfortunately it's sold in China so isn't technically cruelty free, so I'll be on the lookout for a new cruelty free perfume to fall in love with - let me know in the comments if you have any faves!

I've been using Tropic since they first started around 5 years ago; all of their products are completely vegan and cruelty free, and they have a lovely big range to choose from. I've recently been testing out their Tahitian Vanilla & Coconut Bath Foam which is honestly like a holiday in a bottle; as soon as you pour some out the scent is absolutely delicious, and it fills the bathroom. I only need to use a small amount to get lots of bubbles, and it works to nourish and hydrate the skin at the same time with ingredients like aloe vera and macadamia milk.

I've also been trying the Body Smooth Refreshing Polish, which you massage onto dry skin before hopping into the shower or bath to wash it all off. It leaves behind some essential oils which you can then rub in, and has a gorgeous lemon citrus scent. I've only used this two or three times so far, but it is perfect for this time of year when I need a bit of a freshen up and to get rid of all my dry skin.

I'm a big face mask lover, and I've really enjoying using the Sukin Purifying Facial Mask; it's a really gentle clay mask, with rosehip oil and aloe vera to hydrate the skin as well as cleansing. I always usually have a fresh face mask in my fridge too, and my favourite at the moment is Lush Cupcake. It's a good one for oily skins as the rhassoul mud and cocoa work together to bring out all the impurities from your skin, and it smells incredible too.

Nice underwear is something that seems to fall by the wayside as soon as you become a parent. I actually wore my nursing bras for a good six months after I'd stopped breastfeeding (they are pretty comfortable), paired with any random pair of knickers.

I've been treated to a gorgeous set from Beija London, which makes a lovely change. They have 'X', 'Y' and 'Z' bras, of which the 'Z' range I chose from, being a 34G. I received the Waves bra, with is unpadded, wired and made out of a beautiful lace material, with the matching knickers. The set is so gorgeous, and it sounds cliche but it makes me feel like a different woman when I'm wearing them. I was pleased to see such a lovely range for bigger bust sizes on their website, and with no extra cost compared to the smaller one, too.

What's part of your self care routine?

*I was kindly sent the Tropic products and Beija London set free of charge for review purposes. All words and thoughts are honest and my own. Thank you to the brands who support Hey, Mama. If you'd like to work with me please head here.
