There’s something about a sleep in a hotel. I don’t know if it’s the amazing bed or down to having usually spent the day stomping around a new city, but I always have the best sleep. Now, I haven’t stayed at that many hotels, but each and every one I’ve stayed at has given me inspiration for creating a hotel vibe bedroom at home. Whether it’s how to add a little luxury to a room or investing in new bedding.
Today I’m teaming up with The Original Bed Co. to talk you through some of my tips for getting that hotel bedroom vibe at home. ‘Cause that’s the ultimate essential, right? It all kinda falls apart without a quality bed at the heart of the room. The Original Bed Co. have a wonderful range full of different styles of upholstered, wood, brass and iron beds, and I’ll share a few favourites with you.
Make Your Bed
The bed is the most important part of a bedroom, so make a statement. My personal favourite is the Yushan Deep Buttoned Upholstered Bed. It’s neutral enough to go with most decor (other fabrics are available), and the headboard is a great size. The Arran Brass Bed is a perfect way to add a bit of luxe to your bedroom. I love the low footend, and how you can tuck your bedding in to get it looking incredible.
To go with an incredible bed, you need to invest in some quality bedding. The washed linen range from H&M Home is an incredible, comfortable set. I’ve paired it with the Amara pillows to layer the two sets and really get the hotel look.
Consider Your Scents
Good quality candles and reed diffusers are a must-have part of a hotel room. They don’t want to be overpowering, just a classic, neutral scent that fills the room. Obvious names like Tom Dixon or Jo Malone show a little expense has gone into the choice, but you can pick them up on places like Sainsburys and Dunelm too without blowing the budget.
Always Have Fresh Flowers
My bedroom always gets overlooked when it comes to my flowers. I usually place them downstairs in different rooms so they get admired more, so it feels really special when they’re up in the bedroom. Of course, I had to pick my favourite LSA International vase to help get the hotel look; it’s such a statement piece so it would be perfect. (Get 20% off with the code “LSA_TetH827”!)
I’m sure in most hotels you’d find carpet, but if you’re into floorboards, a large rug is a must-have. I love the look of a huge rug that goes under the bed and peeks out the end. I’d have it with enough room on either side so it’s the first thing you put your feet on after hopping out of bed each morning. I’ve picked this Berber style one from Amara for a lovely, cosy and neutral piece.
Add A Personal Touch
I love artwork in a bedroom, and these two prints from Desenio are neutral enough to fit in with most decor styles, but together they make a bit of a statement. The Tulipe No.3 and Magnolia poster make a really pretty pair, and can come in a variety of frames.
Have Somewhere To Sit
A hotel room will always have somewhere to sit other than the bed, so add a nice cosy chair in the corner. In my bedroom it can sometimes end up as a place for clean washing, but it certainly adds a luxe vibe to a bedroom. Especially if it’s as beautiful as this deep blue velvet one from Wayfair!
