5 Steps To The Cosiest Of Bedrooms

We’re in the middle of Winter, and I’m currently feeling like I’d like to hibernate until March. I’m finding myself hiding away in my bedroom a lot earlier than usual, and it’s mostly because it’s just so cosy! A bedroom can be easily overlooked but I think it’s just as important as the living room, so here’s my ideas on making the ultimate cosy, relaxing room!
01. Use a lot of textures.
Personally, this is the most important thing to me. Currently I have some sateen bedding on, and throwing on a mohair throw and faux fur cushions just creates the most comfortable bed ever. I also love lots of natural materials, like bamboo and light wood, in a bedroom; something about them makes the space really serene.
02. Create a colour scheme.
I’m not usually not too bothered about colour schemes in rooms, but I think most bedrooms can benefit from one to stop it being too fussy. My colour scheme has been basically decided by the wallpaper in the room, that I’d like to remove but Kane wants to keep (hey, I’ve got to let him have at least one say in the house!), so I’ve got white, gold, copper and blush pink dotted around. Personally, I’d steer clear of brighter colours for cooler, lighter tones, but it’s what you prefer!
03. Invest wisely.
I can speak from personal experience, that if you think cheap bedding will do, you’re wrong! It’ll bobble, it won’t wash well, and after a couple times in the machine, the material will be all scratchy. Invest in some decent quality sets; my favourites are from Zara and TK Maxx, but Sainsburys do some lovely ones too.

04. Consider your accessories.
I always think more is more in a bedroom. Have candles on every surface. No, there isn’t such thing as too many cushions. Put rugs all over the floor. They’ll all add to the cosy effect!
05. Create a reading corner.
Granted, it doesn’t get used as often as I’d like, but I love the effect the addition of a little reading corner creates in the room. I have a little vintage bamboo chair with a sheepskin rug and a big cushion on, but any sort of big cosy chair would do!
