Some Current Beauty Staples

It's been quite a while since I've talked beauty on here, and really I fell into a pretty deep rut of just using the same old pieces over and over again. I've introduced a few new skincare items the last month or so, as well as some new make-up and I feel like I've actually fallen back in love with beauty a bit and have been really enjoying trialling out some new things.

Skin 79 Clearing Toner - I picked this up in TK Maxx months ago now, but it's only recently I've started using it every day. It's a Korean brand which was what originally drew me to it, and although it's a toner it feels a bit, weird. It's so much thicker than most toners I've used, it feels quite oily and likes it actually leaves something on the skin.. but not in a bad way! It feels nice and nourishing, as well as balancing my skin.

The Ordinary Lactic Acid - Practically everyone has been raving about this brand, who offer no frills skincare with no added nasties. Just basic chemicals that do their jobs. I'm currently using a few of their products but my favourite is the Lactic Acid, which I use in the evenings before an oil and moisturiser. It helps to exfoliate the skin and clear any marks from blemishes I've got left over.

The Body Shop Amazonian Acai Energising Radiance Mask - Having quite combination and sensitive skin, the most I can ever use this is about once a week, and for about five minutes a time. As soon as I apply I can feel it tingling away, and I buff it off with a flannel. After it's off I'm left with a serious glow, it's a really good mask to use before an event or special occasion.

NARS All Day Luminous Foundation - After coming back off holiday I needed a new darker foundation and concealer, so popped into Space NK to get matched up. I bought this on recommendation from the store assistant, but when I read the reviews online, my heart sunk a little. This isn't a foundation if you have problematic skin, especially dry because it does settle in any little dry spots. But it's encouraged me to make sure my skin is looking it's best and primed properly, and then it's a perfect lightweight foundation. Paired with the NARS Creamy Concealer it's creating a really good coverage for me at the moment.

M&S Tea Rose Lipstick - I've been trying to move away from constantly wearing red lipsticks, and this shade is just so so pretty for every day. It's nude but with a little brightness, and I've been reaching for it most days recently. It's quite glossy on application but leaves a pretty stain on the lips, so perfect for lazy gals like me!

Bumble & Bumble Pret-A-Powder - Speaking of laziness, I'm not usually a big dry shampoo fan (it just never sits right in my hair, endless static!) but this is like a two in one. It adds a good bit of volume and cleans up greasy roots at the same time, so I've been using this a lot on nursery mornings where I'm out the house at 7am.

Rimmel Insta Duo Contour Stick - I was kindly sent a selection of things from the new Rimmel #Insta range, and the thing I've been loving the most is the contour stick. I'm a total novice at contouring and although I've tried my best with powder kits in the past, it's usually just a step I can't be bothered with. The duo stick makes it so easy to just draw on where you'll contour, and it blends really nicely so there's no bad case of stripey face around here.

Rimmel Super Gel Nail Polish - I was always sent a few new shades from Rimmel's super gel range, and considering I'm usually lucky if my polish lasts 24 hours without chipping, this has been sticking around for a good few days! Since motherhood and endless amounts of washing up I just don't paint my nails anymore, so I'm grateful to finally have something in my life that doesn't chip immediately! I've been loving shades #26 sun fun daze and #82 purple splash.

  1. I love how you can find all sorts of Asian beauty products in TK Maxx now. It's my favourite section to explore! I'm a big fan of these hydrating toners as they really feel like they're adding an extra layer of comfort to your skin xx
