Small Office Planning

Since we moved into this house, the second largest bedroom has always been my office, with Ada sadly cramped in the box room. At her age we don't spend much time in her room anyway, but there's a few reasons why I'd like her to move into my office (mostly thanks to noisy neighbours!) It means me moving into a lot smaller room and having to whittle A LOT of what I own and need to store in there to make the room work. So in typical blogger fashion, I put together a little moodboard to put some ideas together.

So, it's not much, but you're probably underestimating just how small this room is. Plus running an online vintage shop, the majority of the space is taken over by stock. The first thing I'd like to change is my desk; I currently have an IKEA table top and trestle legs which has served me well for a few years, but it's too big for what I actually need, and it just gets cluttered up. The dream is this stunning West Elm Penelope Mini Desk (hello beautiful marble top for blog photographs!) but it's a tad out of my price range. I'm quite enjoying the idea of getting a leaning desk with shelves, so that if baby #2 ever comes along and I need to remove my office altogether, I've got a bit of space downstairs I can put this, whereas I'd just have to get rid of my desk. This one from Made is actually sold out at the moment, but the Kleur shelves are still available.

Of course, no ideas are complete without a rug and Next are KILLING it with this one. Before I bought the La Redoute Afaw rug I was actually searching for one with tassles, so this ticks all the boxes for me. And it looks so cosy for under your feet! I love the little gold tray and basket from Oliver Bonas, perfect for more storage (or more plants!) And I'd finish off with some cute little boxes from House Of Products

What do you think of my plans?

  2. LOVE the idea of those shelves as a desk. Such a good space saver!
