February was a busy old month for me house-wise (sorry to be that person, but you'll find out why in a few days!) and I'm finally at the point with my living room that I can look around and think.. I'm done. Maybe! It's scary for me to say something like that because I'm constantly chopping and changing my home around, so I'm sure something new will pop into my head soon, but right now I'm feeling pretty content with this room. We've added in quite a few new pieces that have turned it into the relaxing, bohemian vibe room that I was really going for.
The first and most obvious purchase was, of course, the rug. I've wanted a rug to cover the living room floor for a while, but they are £££ so it took a lot of contemplation, lusting and a few subtle hints before Kane decided to buy me one for Valentines day - you can keep your red roses, I'd much prefer a rug! We went for the infamous La Redoute Afaw rug, a rug so famous it has it's own Instagram account. It's in the Beni Ourain Berber style I love without the ridiculously huge price tag, and we managed to get 30% off too, so it ended up a pretty reasonable price. The quality is amazing and I absolutely love the effect it has on the room; it feels so much more relaxed in here now and hides the dark laminate floor that was a massive pain to keep clean. Ada loves it too, she spends half her time lounging and rolling around on the floor now!
She's a big fan of the pouffe too, and spends the other half of her time climbing on top of it. I've been after a knitted pouffe for a while and they're really easy to come across, I picked mine up on ebay (similar here). Again, I just feel like it makes the room so much more relaxing. We also moved the bamboo chair that was previously in our bedroom downstairs, the rattan adds so much to the boho vibe we're going for.
I mentioned our live edge coffee table in my last interiors update post, and I really do love this coffee table! It gets mentioned by practically everyone who comes into my house and rightly so, the fact it was a £40 bargain is even better. I was a little unsure at first as I really did love the vintage kidney table set up we used to have, but it's grown on me so much.
Our latest and last new purchase was the mirror - I used to have a Society6 print up here which I liked, but I still think a mirror really does belong above a mantelpiece. I'd been searching high and low for a sunburst mirror that was a reasonable price, until I stepped into good old TK Maxx and found this one for £30. It did look a lot more gold in the store and flits between silver and gold at home depending on the light, which does bug me a little because I'm a gold girl, but if it bothers me that much I can always whip the spray paint out.
What do you think of my buys? Have you made any home changes recently?
