April has been a bit of a mixed bag, and despite my bad skin days I've been trying to make the most of things and I've really been loving mostly some new make-up bits as well as a couple little bits of skincare. I wanted to do a varied lot but if I could have featured all blush and lip products this month I really could have, but that might have not been the most interesting favourites ever!
Starting off with make-up, my highlight of the month (eeeh eeeh, see what I did there!) is the Instant Radiance Higlighter Stick from No7 (review here). This gives such a gorgeous glow to the skin and is incredibly easy to use, blending out with a Real Techniques Buffing brush. Usually highlighters really settle into my pores and emphasize them but this is really lovely, really natural looking and lasts all day too. It comes joint first place with the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks (review here) that I just can't get enough of at the moment, I just wish I could find more shades in my local stores, I really want the nudey pink next. Fantastic pigmentation, lasting power and so easy to wear, I can already tell these are going to be my summer lip products.
Nars are fast becoming my favourite blushers, and with very good reason. After falling in love with one from the Final Cut collection a few months ago I added Liberte to it, which is such a gorgeous coral red shade. It applies like a dream with really good lasting power, and although it does fade slightly across the day it fades to a lovely pretty peach colour. I've been locking in everything using the Vichy Dermablend Setting Powder (review here) which keeps all my make-up in place fantastically and really makes my skin look flawless. Other less expensive powders usually end up cakey on me but this is really undetectable, it's a new make-up bag must have for me.
I was having a really good skin month until that dreaded few days came along with several large blemishes on my chin. I really put that down to one of my favourite new discoveries of the month, Jurlique Purely Bright Daily Cleanser* (review here), which is such a lovely, refreshing morning cleanser. It's a nice thick cream with a subtle, fresh scent, and I can see my skin looking visibly brighter after each use, as well as feeling really balanced. The Antipodes Aura Manuka Honey mask (review here) is one of my favourite things from the past couple of months too, every time I use it I'm blown away with the results. After just fifteen minutes baby soft, clear and calmed skin is mine.
When several mountain ranges feel like parking a tent on my chin I always immediately reach for Lush's Grease Lightning. I don't know why, but immediately my angry, sore blemishes are calmed, and within a few days of continued use they've almost disappeared. It comes in a handy little pump, and at just a few pounds it's one of the best spot treatments on the market in the lower price bracket. I'm in desperate need of a hair cut too, my dry ends are awful, but Bumble & Bumble Quenching Masque* (review here) has been helping me out with that this month. I pop it on for ten minutes and after rinsing my hair is visibly shinier, soft and frizz free, as well as my hair being much more manageable after using too.
