The Exfoliators

Recently my skin has been really improving and I've been cutting down on how many products I use, but one thing that really stays the same is my love of exfoliation. I'm not sure why, but there really isn't anything that makes such a difference to my skin, and I probably use at least 2-3 products a day, which for some may be too much, but my skin seems to lap it all up.

Starting off with one of my favourite cleansing balms, the Balance Me Cleanse and Smooth Face Balm. I've mentioned this stuff so many times on the blog, but it's something I regularly go for every morning, and I love the difference in textures with the process. Applying straight onto the skin this has little grains of oatmeal in which give the skin a really lovely bright, clear finish, and after adding a little water it turns into a lovely balm to hydrate the skin. I love this in the mornings but I also occasionally use it in the evenings as a second cleanse. I've really been loving the Vichy Normaderm exfoliator recently too. This is one I save for the shower, so it's used every other day. This is a gel with little exfoliating particles in, again nothing too harsh but leave the skin feeling balanced, clear and fresh.

After cleansing I always use an exfoliating toner alongside Lush Tea Tree Toner. My favourite is the Clinique Clarifying Lotion 3 which is a really nice toner which gently exfoliates the skin and helps with any dark spots or scars. When I use this 1-2 times a day I really notice a big difference in my skin, and it always leaves my skin feeling balanced. I also have the La Roche Posay Effaclar lotion which works in the same way but also has salicylic acid in so if I do have a few blemishes this one really helps with that too.

And finally, the big guns. When I've had a particularly bad breakout, usually just after the time of the month, I'm always left with several dark scars on my chin that leaves my constantly reaching for my most heavy duty concealers. La Roche Posay Biomedic Control Serum works overnight to encourage cell growth on the skin it's applied to which means the area of skin replenishes and reproduces quicker, leaving it looking a lot clearer than before. This is a HG product for me, and whilst I don't need to use it too often any more as it has sorted out most of my worries, I always have it on hand just in case.

Skincare is very personal and really depends on the person, but all these products really make such a visible difference to my skin, so if you have oily-combination skin and suffer with scarring I'd really recommend giving these a go.

  2. I'm a big fan of balance Me's Cleanse and smooth face balm. I don't currently have any at the moment and I think I can see in my skin that I'm not currently using it x

  3. I love this post! And your layout!
My fave exfoliator, which is a little stronger than the ones you have mentioned is the Clarins Exfoliating Toner. It has done such a brilliant job at controlling my oil and getting rid of some of my acne scarring. Look into it if you havent already!
