Matte lips and I are having a bit of a thing at the moment. It hasn't always been this way, so I was actually quite surprised at just how many I rounded up in my lip drawer for this post, and this isn't all of them. Whereas they used to dry my lips out within minutes and I'd be left with a chapped mess, I've found some beautiful products which give a great colour payoff and aren't too drying..
Starting off with my latest loves, the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet lipsticks. I'm not going to say too much on these as I've just done a full review (read it here), but if you want some serious pigmentation with crazily long lasting power, you just need these in your life. Possibly the most similar out of the lot is the L'Oreal Glamshine Stain Splash, which applies as a gloss but dries to a pretty matte stain. I have the shade in 'Princess' which is a really lovely coral red tone. They take a little longer to dry so can feel a little tacky on the lips, but after a gentle pat they dry nicely to a matte finish.
Another one I've seriously been loving the last couple of months is the Revlon Colourburst Matte Balms, which I have three gorgeous shades of. These aren't 100% matte I'd say, but go on so creamily and feel really hydrating on the lips. They have a fantastic colour range and all the pigmentations are so so good too. I've been wearing these a lot recently, but I seem to have mislaid a couple of them! Topshop has some similar lip crayons too, which I got Hedonist in. Sadly I don't wear this as much as I should because it's such a faff sharpening it, which is a shame as it's such a beautiful bright orange-red shade that isn't drying, and really perfect for summer.
And the best of the rest, Kate Moss Lasting Finish lipstick in 110, Benefit Lollitint, and Becca Beach Tint in Strawberry. All have such good pigmentation, non-drying formulas and really long lasting power, and I love them all! It's clear to say matte lips and I are becoming very good friends.
