The Everyday Basics

Being part of the beauty blogging community, it's easy to forget about the everyday make-up basics that are such a big part of a beauty regime in favour of reviewing new products. There's quite a few things I use absolutely everytime I apply make-up without fail, but I don't think I've ever even mentioned on this blog, so today's post is all about those forgotten bits that are such a huge part of my make-up bag.

The base is the part of my beauty regime that stays the same so often; I've discovered a few products that are perfect for me, and I still to them. After moisturising, the Clarins Instant Smooth Primer is essential for me; it smooths over any lines, blemishes, and redness to create a great canvas for make-up. My foundation of choice is MAC Studio Fix Fluid, it's the perfect shade for me and gives such fantastic coverage without ever being cakey or causing breakouts. I use a couple of concealers, both which work differently and are both so necessary for me. Collection Lasting Perfection is the best drugstore concealer I've ever used, and covers even the reddest of blemishes and is such a bargain too. I don't have particularly bad dark circles, but after a late night Rimmel Wake me up concealer is perfect for brightening under my eyes.

Having oily skin a good powder is essential for me. Rimmel Stay Matte does just what it says on the tin (or, pot rather). It mattifies any areas and keeps my make-up in check for hours of the day. This used to be my one and only, but I've started using Bourjois Java Rice Powder around my eyes and cheeks too to add a bit of a glow to the skin. I absolutely love the Real Techniques brushes, but the two I cannot be doing without are the buffing and contour brushes from the Core Collection. They're both multi-use and I use these for foundation, blush, powder, contour, concealer, just about everything!

I don't know what I'd do without my HD Brow palette in Bombshell. I can use a couple of these shades which look really natural for me, and I don't use anything else on my brows. I'm never without my cat flicks, and Soap & Glory Supercat is just perfect for me. I've mastered using it and can create thin lines or more of an extreme look with it, it lasts months and is a great dark black. Benefit's They're Real is by far the best mascara I've ever used, and whilst it's been an everyday basic for me since Christmas, I'm not sure it will be after it's dried up as I'm not sure I can afford £19.50 for a mascara! It provides such fantastic length and volume without clumping in the slightest.

I love the Studio Fix Fluid, it's one of the only foundations I've found that actually matches my skin tone! :)
