I actually surprised myself a little when collecting up my moisturisers for this post at just how many I owned. I think having oily-combination skin I sometimes need quite a few depending on how my skin feels like acting on a certain day! A good moisturiser can sort out all ailments and creates a great base for make-up, and I have some here that play a good part in my daytime and evening skincare routines.
Starting with daytime, the one I think I probably reach for the most is Enzymion from Lush. It has a lovely fresh, fruity fragrance to it which is lovely for early mornings, and gives a matte finish to the skin. It has lemon, papaya and other fruity oils which are packed full of vitamins, with aloe vera, cocoa butter and glycerine to hydrate well. It works into the skin nicely and I notice a big difference with oil production half way through the day when I use this. This is also possibly one of the cheapest options, and you can even get a free face mask after recycling five of the pots.
If I wake up with a little redness I like to use the Jurlique Calendula Redness Rescue Moisturiser, which is actually an apricot shade but sinks into the skin transparent easing any signs of redness or irritation. I've only had a little sample of these but I've really loved the results after using it, I'll be investigating Jurlique further soon. I occasionally use the Korres Wild Rose 24 Hour Moisturiser in the mornings too, although usually when I'm having a good skin day. I actually have the normal-dry version, although I do believe a normal-oily version is available. I like rose products for their repairing qualities, and I always find this works so well on any cystic blemishes, especially if they've gone a bit dry after piling on the spot treatments.
Onto nightime, and my most loved is the Trilogy Rosapene Night Cream. This little pot of wonder makes so much difference to my skin the morning after, being packed full of rosehip oil to sort out any little niggling issues on the skin, as well as hydrating and brightening. It also has manuka honey in which brings all the moisture in the skin to the surface, plumping it up too. Again I only have a little sample pot of this, so I've been using it incredibly sparingly.
I picked up the No7 Essential Moisture Night Cream with the vouchers a month or so ago, and I really slap this on after a good cleanse and tone to make sure my skin is well moisturised and never ends up dehydrated. I don't notice this does anything too special, but it does what it says on the tin, or pot rather - moisturises! It's quite a nice thick one, but sinks into the skin nicely and leaves my face feeling really soft! As an occasional treat I also like to apply a nice thick layer of the Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief which can be used as an overnight mask just to lock in all the moisture, and I find it quite calming on any irritations too. It's very lightweight but sticky, although it doesn't feel too uncomfortable wearing overnight.
