I'm sad to say that La Roche Posay and myself haven't always been the best of friends. When the Effaclar Duo hype was really taking off I tried it out and experienced some of the worst breakouts of my life, but I have their Effaclar lotion which works quite well for me. I've always wanted to include more exfoliation into my skincare routine, so when I spotted the Biomedic Pigment Control Serum lurking in the clearance section of Boots, I had to give it a go.
Biomedic Pigment Control serum has high concentrated levels of kojic acid, along with LHA's combined with glycolic acid - talking about applying acids to the face can be a bit of a scary topic, but as we've learnt over the past year or so it's actually very beneficial for encouraging new cell growth and helping to reduce scarring left behind by breakouts. I get hormonal cystic blemishes which never come to a head, but stick around for about a week and leave a big horrible scar behind afterwards, so I've always been intrigued by products like this.
The product itself comes in a glass bottle with a handy pipette so you can limit how much you use, and it's easy for application too. I use this immediately after toning, and leave it to sink in for around 20 minutes before adding moisturiser. For a week or so I didn't see much result, but I've been using this for a month now and I can safely say this has made the biggest difference to my skin! I'm still getting breakouts every couple of weeks, but this is helping them calm down quicker, as well as reducing the scarring left behind.
I used to always wear a lot of concealer purely because my scarring was so bad, but most of the time now I don't have to use any and foundation is fine! I've been reducing the amount of other products I've been using too because this has been working so well. It's a daily essential for me now, and I'm just so happy I've finally found something to sort out my skin! I haven't experienced any sensitivity as a result of using this, but they do recommend using SPF daily when you use this. My skin looks so much clearer, brighter, and I'm so much happier overall with it's condition.
Have you tried this? What's your favourite product from La Roche Posay?
