THE SUNDAY POST: THE VEGAN KIND

I'd been vegetarian for over half my life when last year I decided to take the step forward and go vegan. I've done it before, but always failed a little; I'm a big lover of anything sweet (chocolate, cake, cookies, doughnuts, the list goes on..) and I've always put that first. It didn't go too smoothly and I slipped up a few times, but since the new year I've been 100% vegan and I feel so much healthier and happier for it. I had no idea anything like this existed until I joined in with the 'Vegan Hour' chat on twitter, and discovered The Vegan Kind

The Vegan Kind is a monthly subscription box that sends out 5-6 products each month, that could be food, cleaning or beauty, all which are 100% cruelty, dairy and animal free. This month had quite a few foody products in, but that suits me just fine! The supermarkets around me aren't the greatest and I struggle finding quite a lot of the things I read about online.

First up, and my favourite that I've practically polished off already is the cinder toffee. I absolutely love honeycomb and this is a great vegan alternative. It is a bit 'bitty', but without the egg to bind it all together it will be. I love that they've used a local business to them too, it's great to see little cafes and shops also being supported by TVK. I've also given the 'Choc Shot' a go which is so so tasty, definitely something to satisfy any sweet cravings!

There's also a completely raw fruit bar that seems similar to my beloved Nak'd bars, so I'll be enjoying chomping down on that soon. I'm also really happy to see the bag of Kale crisps in too; Kale isn't something I've tried before but I've been telling myself I should do for ages. This way I can give them a test out to see if I'd buy some and make it myself. There's also a great full sized Organic Surge shower gel. I've not tried anything from the brand before despite hearing rave reviews, and a shower gel is a great way to start out. The sugared almond scent sounds heavenly!

As well as this you also get a little card talking through all the products, and a recipe card which you can collect, and I think 3 or 4 boxes in they send you a little ring binder to store them in! The boxes cost £10 + £2.95 postage, and the value of this box was £12.62 so you are getting your money's worth! I'm so happy with everything in this box, and I'm really looking forward to my next one!

Have you tried The Vegan Kind?

  2. No, but I really need to. The boxes I've seen have been amazing. I've been a Vegetarian for over 10 years and I would love to make that switch, I can imagine these boxes being pretty useful.

  6. This sounds really interesting.
I've been wanting to go vegetarian for a while now and maybes go vegan one day. I hardly eat meat and when I do, it seems to only be in takeaways. It's one of my goals this year to eat plenty of fruit and veggies.
I think this might be a perfect kickstarter for me! :)

    1. Yes, definitely! Even if you start off with a meat free day or two a week, it all makes a difference :) And this box would give you lots of great options for recipes to try.
