RED? FOR VALENTINES... GROUNDBREAKING

Yep, I know it certainly isn't too original, but I just can't help but go red with full force on Valentines day. I am the weird one sat in the restaurant with a red dress, red lips and red nails. Okay, perhaps I'm not that extreme, but I do like to match it up beauty wise on the 14th. I've been wearing a lot of red anyway recently, down to a purchase of a couple absolute loves and the rediscovery of a few old favourites.

First up are the Revlon Colourburst Matte Balms. I have to say, these are my buys of the year (I know it's only February, whatever), but I am so so impressed with these. I've never been able to wear matte lipsticks before, or I have but within thirty minutes I'm left with dry, chapped messes where my lips used to be. Not anymore, this pair give a great matte coverage whilst feeling so moisturising. The colours are beautiful too, I especially love 'Standout'. I do have to be a bit wary of reapplication with these though, if I'm not careful after drinking I'm left with a bit of a patchy stain on my lips, so make sure you always have it to hand!

If you want to go a bit brighter, No7 Gay Geranium is the one for you. It's a great orange red shade, that again feels so moisturising on the lips and is a great quality. This colour on me really lifts my complexion, and can be worn alone or with a smoky eye too. Another bright option is Rimmel Apocalips in Stella. On me this is a bright pink with a pretty red undertone, so perfect for a romantic make-up look.

Now onto the nails; my go-to pillarbox red is Ciate Mistress. Not only is the formula fantastic and it lasts days without chipping, the packaging is just so beautiful too. If I could afford it I'd have every one of Ciate's shades! If you fancy jazzing it up a bit, a gorgeous red glitter is from No7 in the shade Salsa. It is a little bit festive, but you can definitely make it work for valentines.

Will you be going with classic red this valentines?
