BATTLE OF THE SCRUBS

For quite a few years now, a good cleansing scrub has been an essential part of my skincare routine. I don't use it too often, but used once or twice a week I notice a big difference in the overall appearance of my skin when I keep up with it. Scrubs are probably something that are overlooked in favour of other cleansers, but they provide quite a few benefits for all sorts of skin types, whether you're cursed with blemishes or dry skin. I've been using Soap & Glory's Scrub your nose in it for quite a while, but felt like a bit of an upgrade so thought I'd compare Vichy Normaderm Exfoliating Gel.

Scrub Your Nose in it is a very refined scrub, coming in a light paste that has a slight minty fruity scent (it's nicer than it sounds, honest!) It can also be used as a mask, which I have tried and enjoyed. Whilst it doesn't have anything particularly special inside, I've always found it's done a good job of gently exfoliating my skin which I've loved when it's been particularly sensitive.

The Vichy Dermablend in comparison is a lot heftier of a scrub (good professional lingo for you there); the particles are larger, and the formula is more of a gel than a paste. If you really need a more exfoliating scrub this one is for you - it's actually a little too sharp for me, but I add a couple drops of water to my fingers when applying which makes it softer. After using my skin feels incredible, and looks brighter. I'm always searching for products to help with scarring that I'm always left with after cystic blemishes, and this really sorts it out. As it is a bit harsh for me I only do use it a couple of times a week, but I'm already noticing the difference. It contains Salicylic and Glycolatic acids that make it particular good for those for oilier skins.

I actually really like both the scrubs; they're different, but in good ways. After a bad breakout, I know I'm going to be reaching for Vichy, but if I'm feeling sensitive or don't need too much of an exfoliation, Soap and Glory it is. That said, I'm actually running out of SYNII but I've noticed the packaging has been changed, along with the price, and it's now more expensive but with less product, which is a shame!

Have you tried either of these? What did you think?

  3. I haven't tried these but they both look very interesting. I love Vichy and S&G, for different reasons, but I'm sure both scrubs are great!
