A good few months ago now in my search for the perfect nude, I stumbled across the new (at the time!) L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche Collection Privee lipsticks. They are a collection of nude lipsticks coloured based on fitting perfectly with different skintones. They used celebrities and models to market the selection, and buying online I figured I was closest to Julianne Moore's skintone, so I picked 'Barely Peach'.

On first impressions, everything seems great. The packaging is gorgeous, it looks quite luxe and more expensive than what it was. I love the idea behind the range, but unfortunately this colour just is not right for me at all! Julianne is really the only pale lady in the ads, and more olive or honey tones such as Cheryl Cole or Eva Longoria are more likely to get a good match.

I've never able to find the perfect nude for me, but unfortunately the pink tone to this is just way too much for my already pink toned skin, and I just look a little ridiculous, hence the lack of picture wearing it. I'm really disappointed as there does seem to be more of a selection for slightly darker skintones, and the idea of there being just one nude lipstick to suit all pale ladies is a little ridiculous. I should really have swatched it in store but I guess I just got a little excited over the possibility of finding a great nude colour. The formula is so lovely too, and I love the packaging so it really is a shame that it's not right for me.

Have you tried any from this range?

  1. I am wearing my favourite nude today, which happens to be a beige MUA, but I love this more pinkish version :)

I found your blog via BlogLovin and would love if you could stop by & catch up on my latest GHD Party Hair Tutorial & Pink Jewel Styler post for some inspiration too :)

  2. I have two lipsticks from this range and I love them, especially Cheryl's Nude xx

  3. I nearly picked up one of these yesterday but i'm so glad I didn't as i'm pale too and from what you've said I doubt it would suit me either! I agree that the packaging is bautiful though! x

    1. Yeah, I'm not too sure it would either! I've found they also do one that's supposedly meant to suit all skin tones, so possibly give that a swatch, but it's a shame they only have one for us pale-ys as they do a couple for different darker skintones :/ xo

  4. It's really too bad it's too pink for you! It looks gorgeous swatched but, like all us beauty lovers know, sometimes it just doesn't work! Hope you find a nude that works for you soon :)
    Lovely Notions

  5. It's a shame it didn't work for you. I swatched a few of these in Boots before and couldn't find one I really liked. I've heard some people rave about these and some people hate them as well, it's odd!

  6. Aw that's such a shame, it is really hard to find a good nude for pale skin. They're never quite right on me :/ the packaging does look lovely and luxe though!

  8. I personally can't even wear nudes, they make me look so ghastly! Hope you manage to find something you like in the future. x

    Živa from Nothin' Fancy. Really.

  9. I've been really intrigued by this range. I haven't had a proper look at the shades but I'm not convinced I'd find one that suited me either!

  10. For some reason, I haven't been able to find these in the stores, I have been totes lusting after them, though. Such a pretty shade!
