SEASCAPE ISLAND APOTHECARY

I'm a big lover of natural products; we all know the nasty ingredients like parabens, SLS' and artificial fragrances aren't the best thing to be putting on our skin, so I was really intrigued to try out some products from Seascape Island Apothecary. I picked out the Unwind Body Lotion, and Refresh Hand & Nail Cream, both made from local ingredients from where the company is based, in Jersey.

The stand out product for me is the Hand & Nail Cream*. It's made out of lavender, lemongrass and geranium, all which create a lovely, natural uplifting scent. It also has beeswax and natural shea butter which condition the skin and cuticles beautifully. I only really notice having dry hands and nails around this time of year, but this has really sorted out any dry areas. It sinks in quickly and the scent lingers, but isn't too overpowering which I like.

The Unwind Body Lotion* is another hit with me. I'm not the biggest fan of lavender, but it isn't too overpowering, and like the name suggests it is lovely for using after a bath in the evening and just relaxing. I love the pump bottle, it means it isn't too messy and you can control how much you use quite easily. A little goes a pretty long way, it leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth, and sinks in after about a minute so no hanging around unable to move!

They're a little on the pricier side compared to high street products, but you get what you pay for, which is the ethics of using all natural, locally sourced produce, and creating great products without testing on animals.

Jersey Tourist Board are currently running a competition where if you submit a memory of Jersey, you can win a two night trip for up to four people. I visited the country as a younger girl, my memories are of the nice hotel chef who kept giving my brother and I the toys from cereal boxes, foam dragons my Mum bought us and the song 'Save Tonight' by Eagle Eye Cherry that seemed to constantly be on the radio. If you'd like to enter you can do here!

  9. It's funny actually, as I've heard some bad press about the hand and nail cream, so was a bit sceptical, but your review was really good. Did you think it had any bad points really? Just wondering whether it maybe my January pick me up! x
