THE LADY IS A VAMP

Around the Spring and Summer time, peach is my thing; nails, lips, cheeks, or all three together, I cannot resist those coral-pink shades. I always surprise myself then to see that completely switch in the autumn months, reaching for darker, vampier shades of red, plum and navy.

Nails are always the first thing to have a switch around, my current favourite being Avon's Tweed. It's the perfect mix of burgundy and red, with the slightest hint of brown, although I have to say the formula is terrible! Be sure to wear to apply a good topcoat over otherwise it'll be chipped within hours. Others worth mentioning are Nails Inc. Hotcomb Street, a beautiful deep navy, and Hampstead Heath, a lovely dark grape shade.

Although it doesn't look much here, Topshop Screen Siren applies as a deep red with a gorgeous pink tone underneath that really makes it live up to it's name. Look Beauty Berry Vamp is also a firm favourite, and despite not being much of an everyday shade, if worn alone with a light brush of eyeshadow and mascara, I think I can just about pull it off. I like to apply a light coat of Clinique Superbalm gloss to make the colour slightly sheer and more wearable.

What are your favourite shades for autumn?

  3. I'm exactly the same! I obsess over shades of coral in the summer and lust over burgundy's in the winter! In the last week I seem to have made the transition to what I like to think of as my "dark side", as I'm currently wearing a deep burgundy lipstick and pretty much a matching nail polish (is it acceptable to match lips and nails?because I seem to be doing it a lot lately!) ... loved this post by the way! x

  8. Oh those lipsticks both look amazing! I'm using Rimmel Kate Moss 'Kiss of Life' at the moment but it's more of a true red than a berry - both of your picks are on my list to check out! xx

  9. That is a really nice lipstick shade :) I personally have struggled with Topshop lipsticks but I'd like to give another one a go in a darker shade just to see if there is a difference; this may be the one!
